Franklin Parade: Hot Day, Full Heart

This year’s Franklin Independence Day Celebration was one to remember! Yes—it was hot—but the energy, spirit, and overwhelming support from our community made it all worth it.

Walking in the parade as a candidate for Franklin School Board was both humbling and electrifying. Our team came prepared with water bottles, handheld fans, candy, USA bracelets, stickers, and temporary tattoos to help folks stay cool and festive. Seeing kids light up over the goodies and waving to familiar faces reminded me exactly why I’m running: because this community is special, and it deserves leaders who show up.

After the parade, I had the joy of walking through town, meeting neighbors, shaking hands, and sharing conversations under the summer sun. Wearing my campaign shirt sparked so many kind words, supportive comments, and even a few impromptu hugs. I was genuinely amazed by the encouragement I received—it filled me up more than any bottle of water could (though I was grateful for those too!).

And there’s more excitement coming—buttons, shirts, and yard signs will be available soon! If you’d like to show your support or help spread the word, keep an eye out. I’ll be sharing how to get yours very soon.

To everyone who came out to celebrate, who cheered along the route, and who reminded me why this work matters: thank you. I’m so proud to be a part of Franklin, and even more proud to serve it.

Onward—John Wheeler, Candidate for Franklin School Board, and Candidate for Accountability
